CONGRATULATIONS to our golf team who won Pentwater's first ever West Michigan "D" conference championship! The team defeated Bear Lake in the final match by 11 strokes. Scoring for the Falcons was Sam Wagner - 76 (career low); Chance Helms - 86; Alex Wagner - 89; Hunter Ruggles - 92; Erik Wallstrom - 94; and Timo Grollius - 113. The team will be traveling to Muskegon Country Club on May 31 to compete in the MHSAA district championship! Way to go, team, and Coach DeRuiter!
CONGRATULATIONS to our high school math team who placed 1st at the Oceana County Math tournament on Friday, May 4. Students take a rigorous and difficult test to demonstrate their level of understanding of math concepts. The team included Sam Wagner, Chance Helms and Caleb Glover who placed first in the geometry category. Great job to all of our students and to Mr. Mayville and Ms. Wojtas for preparing our students!
CONGRATULATIONS to juniors Austin Case and Mark VanDerZanden who competed in the annual West Shore chemistry competition. High school students from Lake, Manistee, Mason and Oceana counties were invited to participate. Students competed as teams of two in a written portion and a laboratory portion of the day long event! Austin and Mark placed 3rd overall in the competition. A thank you goes out to Mrs. Fatura for preparing them for this examination!
